HealthPartners Will Be Neuroscience Center

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — HealthPartners is planning to build a neuroscience center in St. Paul.

The health care organization says it will be constructed near Regions Hospital and will be the largest free-standing neuroscience center in the Upper Midwest and one of only a few in the country.

The center will bring together nationally recognized programs for stroke, spine care, dementia, Parkinson's disease, brain and spine tumors and other neurological disorders.

HealthPartners CEO Mary Brainerd says the need for these services is growing. The number of people with dementia is expected to double in the next 20 years.

Construction on the 4-story building is scheduled to begin in the spring and should be completed by early 2017.
