HBO Orders Pilot On Drama Set In Minneapolis' Somali Community

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – HBO has reportedly ordered a pilot from Oscar-winning filmmaker Kathryn Bigelow on a drama set in Minneapolis about the city's Somali community.

The show is called "Mogadishu, Minnesota," Variety reports. The series is described as a family drama that explores about what it means to be an American, as well as give a glimpse into the world of terror recruitment.

Bigelow, the director of "The Hurt Locker" and "Zero Dark Thirty," is producing the project.

Penning the script and directing the first episode will be K'naan Warsame, a Somali-Canadian rapper and singer.
