Minneapolis Musician Dessa To Appear On 'Hamilton' Mixtape

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A local musician is set to appear on one of the most talked-about albums of the year.

Dessa, a popular member of the local hip hop collective Doomtree, is a featured artist on the 'Hamilton' Mixtape. The album is a collection of songs from the award-winning, best-selling Broadway show performed by popular musicians.

The show's writer and star Lin-Manuel Miranda tweeted the track and artist listing Thursday morning.

Also featured on one of the album's tracks is K'naan -- the Somali-Canadian rapper who has been a major player in the planned HBO show, "Mogadishu, Minnesota." The show is set in Minneapolis and is described as a family drama about the Somali immigrant experience.

The album is set for release on Dec. 2, but will be available for pre-order on Friday.
