Green Line Train Collides With Car Making U-Turn

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A Metro Transit Green Line train collided with a car Sunday afternoon.

According to Metro Transit officials, the accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. when a car attempted to turn left in front of a westbound train near University Avenue.

The car was dragged several feet until the train came to a stop.

Officials said service was able to operate in both directions as the accident was cleared, but trains were off schedule.

Service returned to normal around 5:20 p.m.

The driver was cited for attempting an illegal U-turn.

No one on was injured in the accident.
