Green Line LRT Service Disrupted In St. Paul
ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- Service along the Green Line LRT was disrupted Monday afternoon in St. Paul.
Metro Transit said that buses were replacing trains between the Downtown East and Raymond Avenue Stations.
The reason Metro Transit gave for the service disruption was that a Pantograph, or the device that transfers power from the lines to the cars, got damaged leaving the station and caused arcing.
The vehicle shut down not far from the platform.
WCCO spoke with one woman on the train who said that everyone aboard was asked to disembark after the train lost power. All three cars were evacuated.
There was also a gas leak at a nearby construction site, which was unconnected to but in the proximity of the LRT incident.
