Grand Jury Indictment Unsealed In Sartell Shooting

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) — A grand jury in Stearns County has indicted a St. Cloud man in a fatal shooting outside a strip mall in Sartell.

The indictment against 23-year-old Demetreus McGinnis was unsealed Tuesday. McGinnis is accused of shooting 20-year-old Maurice Galvin Jr., in what prosecutors say was a fight over drugs.

McGinnis says he was defending himself during a robbery and a scuffle over a gun led to the shooting last March near a Sprint store.

The grand jury indicted McGinnis on first-degree, second-degree and third-degree murder charges, and two other counts.

McGinnis is being held on $2 million unconditional bail. He appeared in court on the indictment Wednesday and remains in jail. A phone message left for his defense attorney was not immediately returned Wednesday.
