Gov. Dayton Heading To Worthington For Pheasant Hunting Opener

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Gov. Mark Dayton is heading to southwestern Minnesota next weekend for the 2014 Pheasant Hunting Opener in Minnesota.

The annual Governor's Pheasant Hunting Opener will be held in Worthington Friday and Saturday, Oct. 10-11. The event was initiated by Gov. Dayton in 2011. He's also been to Montevideo, Marshall and Madelia for the opener.

The event is being put together by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Explore Minnesota Tourism, the Worthington Area Convention and Visitors Bureau and Nobles County Pheasants Forever.

City officials said they are ready for the weekend, noting there are nearly 13,000 acres of public hunting land within 20 miles of Worthington.
