Gov. Dayton Attends 1st Meeting For Child Abuse Task Force

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Gov. Mark Dayton took part in the first meeting of the Governor's Task Force on the Protection of Children Monday morning.

The task force is made up of legislators, county representatives, children's advocates, attorneys and child protection experts from across the state.

Dayton formed the task force after the death of four-year-old Eric Dean. There had been 15 reports of suspected abuse before Dean's step-mother killed him last year.

The purpose of the group is to come up with ways to try to strengthen the system that was supposed to protect the little boy.
