Charges Possible In Cincinnati Zoo Gorilla Incident
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The parents of the 3-year-old boy who fell in a gorilla enclosure at the Cincinnati Zoo may find out Monday whether they will face criminal charges.
Some critics blame the 3-year-old boy's parents for not keeping a close eye on the child. One witness said she overheard the boy telling his mother he was going to get into the moat before he actually did.
Zookeepers feared for the boy's life, so they shot and killed the 400-pound gorilla.
At least two animal rights groups are holding the Cincinnati Zoo responsible for the death of the gorilla. The zoo stands by its decision, and is also defending the child's parents.
An announcement on charges is expected at noon on Monday.
