Gophers' Zahui B. Named AP First Team All-American

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- University of Minnesota sophomore Amanda Zahui B. was named a First Team All-American by the Associated Press on Tuesday.

Zahui is the first player in the history of the Gopher program to be named a First Team All-American. Rachel Banham was named Honorable Mention in 2013 and 2014, Janelle McCarville was Honorable Mention in 2004 and Second Team in 2005 and Lindsay Whalen was Second Team All-American twice and Third Team in 2002.

Zahui is a finalist for the Naismith Trophy, the Wade Trophy and was one of 15 named to the John R. Wooden Award ballot. She helped lead the Gophers to a 23-10 record and was name the Big Ten Player of the Year by the media. Zahui averaged  18.8 points, 12.8 rebounds and 4.1 blocks per game to be one of the top centers in the country this year.

As a sophomore, Zahui is already the Gophers leader in career blocks with 240.
