Gophers' Wilcox Earns Second Straight Big Ten Honor

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The University of Minnesota men's hockey team remained a unanimous No. 1 team in the country when the latest polls came out Monday, and goalie Adam Wilcox has had a lot to do with it.

Wilcox, who leads the Big Ten and is second in the country with 18 wins this season, was named the league's Second Star of the Week on Tuesday. Wilcox recorded a .959 save percentage and a had a .96 goals against average as the Gophers tied Michigan State 2-2 Friday and beat the Spartans 1-0 Saturday at Mariucci Arena. Minnesota claimed four out of six points on the weekend to improve to 19-2-5 on the season.

Wilcox is unbeaten in his last 14 games and his shutout Saturday was his third of the season. He made 19 saves in Saturday's shutout win and 28 in Friday night's tie for 47 saves on the weekend.

The Gophers travel to No. 12-ranked Wisconsin for games Thursday and Friday night.
