Gophers Volleyball Beats Indiana To Win Big Ten Title

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The University of Minnesota women's volleyball team beat Indiana 3-1 Saturday night to win the outright Big Ten championship.

The league title earns the Gophers an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. It's the program's first Big Ten title since 2002 and second overall. With the victory, Minnesota improved to 18-2 in league play and 26-4 on the season.

The Gophers won the first set 25-17 and the second 25-18 to take a 2-0 lead in the match. After dropping the third game 25-23, they won the match by taking game four 25-16. Sarah Wilhite led the Gophers with 18 kills and Dalianliz Rosado added a match-high 20 digs.

Minnesota earned the No. 2 overall seed for the NCAA Tournament Sunday night. The Gophers will host Jackson State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday.
