Gophers Top Michigan 3-1 To Earn Weekend Sweep

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The University of Minnesota men's hockey team put together a third period rally to beat Michigan State 3-1 at Mariucci and earn a weekend sweep of the Spartans.

The Gophers scored all three goals in the final 20 minutes after trailing 1-0 going into the third period. Justin Kloos scored 31 seconds into the third period to tie the game 1-1. Connor Reilly scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal about midway through the third period.

Leon Bristedt scored an empty-net goal with less than a second left in regulation to seal the win.

Eric Schierhorn made 17 saves in net for the Gophers, who out-shot the Spartans 32-18 for the game.

Minnesota is tied for the Big 10 lead with Michigan as each team has 18 points on the season. The Gophers travel to Wisconsin next weekend to face the Badgers.
