Gophers To Face Washington State In Holiday Bowl

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Following an 8-4 regular season, the University of Minnesota football team learned its bowl destination on Sunday.

The Gophers are headed to San Diego, Calif., to play in the Holiday Bowl against Washington State. The game will be at 6 p.m. on Dec. 27 at Qualcomm Stadium and be televised on ESPN.

It's the first time the Gophers will have played in the Holiday Bowl. Washington State is out of the Pac-12 Conference and finished 8-4 in the regular season, including a 7-2 mark in league play. The two teams have met five times, with the Gophers winning two of them.

Minnesota won eight games this season for the third year in the last four. It's the fifth straight bowl game for the Gophers, who beat Central Michigan 21-14 in the Quick Lane Bowl last year.
