Gophers Sheehy Named Big Ten's First Star

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- University of Minnesota sophomore Tyler Sheehy was named the Big Ten's First Star of the Week after the Gopher men's hockey team swept Alaska-Anchorage to open the season.

Sheehy have five points over two games to lead all Big Ten players. He had three assists in Friday's 6-0 win and added two goals, including a short-handed goal, in Sunday's 6-3 win.

It's Sheehy's second career award and first since last December. The Gophers have their official home opener against St. Cloud State Oct. 21.
