Gophers' Sheehy Named Big Ten's First Star Of The Week

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- After recording four points in a weekend sweep of Ohio State, Tyler Sheehy of the University of Minnesota men's hockey team earned the league's First Star of the Week on Tuesday.

Sheehy scored three goals and had one assist as the Gophers claimed two overtime victories over the Buckeyes. He scored the first goal for the Gophers Friday night as they trailed 2-0 early and came back to win 3-2 in overtime.

Saturday night, he scored twice for his first career multi-goal game and added an assist as the Gophers completed the weekend sweep. He's the first Gophers player to earn the league's First Star of the Week since Eric Schierhorn on Oct. 27.

Minnesota (6-7, 2-0) travels to Michigan for a two-game series this weekend.
