Gophers' Reilly Earns Big Ten 3rd Star Of The Week

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Big Ten Conference announced Tuesday that defenseman Mike Reilly earned the league's Third Star of the Week honor after the Gophers beat Ohio State last Friday and lost Saturday in a shootout.

Reilly recorded four assists on the weekend and leads Big Ten defensemen in goals, assists and points. He had three assists in Friday's 5-1 win over the Buckeyes and had another assist in Saturday's 3-2 shootout loss. He has eight goals and 20 assists for 28 points on the season, which are all career highs.

Reilly is leading a Gophers defensive unit that has allowed an NCAA-low 64 goals on the season. They also rank at the top with a 1.88 goals against average.

Minnesota (24-4-6, 13-2-3), ranked No. 1 in the nation, travels to Michigan this weekend to close out the regular season.  Friday's game is at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday's will start at 6 p.m.
