Gophers Name Jenny Hansen Head Women's Gymnastics Coach

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Jenny Hansen has been promoted from interim coach to full-time head coach for the Minnesota women's gymnastics team.

Golden Gophers athletic director Norwood Teague made the announcement on Tuesday. Hansen served as interim coach last year when Meg Stephenson resigned amid an investigation into claims of sexual harassment.

Hansen was a gymnast for the Gophers from 2000-03 and served as captain her senior season. She was an assistant coach from 2007-14.

Hansen led the Gophers to a fourth place finish in the NCAA Auburn regional last season.

Hansen says she is grateful for the opportunity to become the full-time leader of the program.
