Gophers' Mike Reilly Named To U.S. Men's National Team
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- USA Hockey announced Tuesday that University of Minnesota junior Mike Reilly was named one of 15 players for the 2015 U.S. Men's National Team.
Reilly was a two-time First Team All-American and two-time Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year for the Gophers. Reilly collected 42 points this season at Minnesota, including 36 assists.
This year's team will compete in the 2015 IIHF Men's World Championships in the Czech Republic. Reilly was previously named to Team USA for the 2013 World Junior Championships and in the 2011 World Junior A Hockey Challenge.
Reilly's 42 points this season were the most for a Gophers defenseman since Jordan Leopold had 48 in 2001-02, a national championship season. Reilly was also a Hobey Baker Award finalist this year.
Reilly had 89 points in 117 career games with the Gophers.
