Gophers Host UW-Milwaukee Wednesday In WNIT

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The University of Minnesota women's basketball team did not receive an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.

The Gophers will, however, get at least one more game on their home court. Minnesota will host UW-Milwaukee Wednesday night in the opening round of the WNIT. It's the fourth appearance for the Gophers in the WNIT. They've made previous appearances in 2007, 2013 and 2014.

The Gophers enter postseason play at 19-11 overall and finished 11-7 in league play. They are led by senior guard Rachel Banham, the Big Ten Player of the Year. She's one of the top scorers in the nation at nearly 28 points per game on the season. She averaged more than 30 points per game in league play to lead the Big Ten in scoring.
