Gophers' Hollins Day-To-Day With Sprained Ankle
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Gophers basketball fans are breathing a sigh of relief Thursday morning after one of the team's best players was hurt early in Wednesday night's win over Wisconsin.
Team officials said X-rays came back negative on the left ankle of guard Andre Hollins. The junior rolled his ankle after hitting a jump shot on the first possession of Minnesota's 81-68 win over the No. 9-ranked Badgers Wednesday night at Williams Arena.
Hollins didn't play the rest of the night and had an MRI Thursday morning. That confirmed he sprained his left ankle. His status for Sunday's game at Nebraska is uncertain, according to coach Richard Pitino. Hollins entered the contest as Minnesota's leading scorer, averaging more than 15 points per game.
The Gophers (15-5, 4-3) are then off until Feb. 1.
