Gophers Freshman Josh Martin To Transfer

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota freshman power forward Josh Martin has decided to transfer from the program.

The Gophers announced the news on Monday, shortly before their game against North Dakota.

Martin appeared in only seven games, scoring nine points in 38 minutes, with Charles Buggs instead filling the primary reserve role behind Joey King at the power forward spot. Martin signed with Minnesota out of Bothell High School in the Seattle area after averaging 27 points and 14 rebounds in his senior year.

Martin's departure brings the Gophers down to 10 available players this season. Sophomore guard Daquein McNeil has been suspended indefinitely after being charged with two felony counts of domestic assault.
