Gophers' Brandt Wins Women's WCHA Player Of The Year

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Hannah Brandt and Rachel Ramsey claimed the top honors as the University of Minnesota women's hockey team took eight awards from the WCHA, the league announced Wednesday.

Brandt, a finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Award, was named the WCHA's Player of the Year for the second straight year. She also won the league's scoring title with 50 points, including 21 goals. She is second nationally with 67 points on the season.

Brandt was also one of four players to earn First Team All-WCHA honors. Joining are Ramsey, Lee Stecklein and Dani Cameranesi. Ramsey was named the WCHA's Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight season. She collected 31 points on the season, including 23 assists.

Freshman Kelly Pannek and Sydney Baldwin were named to the league's All-Rookie Team. Pannek leads all freshmen in the country with 42 points, including 13 goals.
