Gophers Boyd, Wilcox Earn Weekly Big Ten Honors

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – As the University of Minnesota men's hockey team keeps winning, the Big Ten Conference weekly awards keep coming.

After the Gophers (23-4-5, 12-2-2) swept Penn State last weekend in their final regular season home series, two players were honored by the league. Travis Boyd was named the First Star of the Week and Adam Wilcox was named the Third Star of the Week.

Boyd led the league with four points last weekend, with two assists in Friday's win and a goal and an assist Saturday night. He now has a career-high 24 points, which includes nine goals.

Wilcox, having a standout season in net, earned his fifth weekly award. He earned his league-leading 21st win of the season Friday night with 30 saves. Wilcox, at 21-4-5, ranks third nationally in wins and sixth in save percentage at .932.

The Gophers travel to Ohio State for a two-game set, Friday and Saturday night.
