Gophers' Banham Named To Wooden Award's Top 20

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- University of Minnesota senior guard Rachel Banham was named Friday to the Midseason Top 20 list for the Wooden Award.

The players on the list are considered the front-runners for the award, which goes at the end of the season to the top player in college basketball. Banham is averaging 23.6 points per game for the Gopher women's basketball team, which is good for sixth nationally.

She also leads the Gophers with 6.4 rebounds per game, 3-pointers (61), three-point shooting percentage (35.7 percent), free-throw percentage (84.7 percent) and steals. Banham also became Minnesota' s all-time leading scorer in school history, passing Lindsay Whalen.

Banham was granted a fifth year of eligibility with a medical redshirt after suffering a season-ending knee injury early last year.
