Gopher Women's Hockey Wins WCHA Title

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The University of Minnesota women's hockey team clinched a WCHA title with a 6-0 win over Minnesota-Duluth Friday night at Ridder Arena.

The No. 1-ranked Gophers got a hat trick from sophomore Maryanne Menefee, the first of her career, and two goals from Sarah Davis. Meghan Lorence added a goal and two assists, and Hannah Brandt added two assists in the victory.

Sophomore goalie Amanda Leveille made 16 saves to earn her 12th shutout of the season. The Gophers extended their unbeaten streak to 19 games with the victory.

Minnesota (31-1-1, 25-1-1) closes out the regular season Sautrday afternoon against UMD at Ridder Arena. It will be the final regular season home game for four seniors who have a career record of 132-16-5.
