Gopher Women Sweep UMD, Clinch Big Ten Title

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The University of Minnesota women's hockey team completed a weekend sweep of Minnesota-Duluth with a 2-0 win Saturday at Ridder Arena and clinched the regular season WCHA title.

It's Minnesota's third straight regular season title and ninth overall. The Gophers got goals from Dani Cameranesi and Lee Stecklein in the third period in the victory. Junior goalie Amanda Leveille made 19 saves in her sixth shutout of the season.

The Gophers (27-2-4, 20-2-4) out-shot the Bulldogs 27-19 for the game. Minnesota-Duluth managed just two shots on goal in the third period.

Minnesota completes its regular season with a series next Friday and Saturday at Bemidji State.
