Gophers To Face North Dakota In 2018 Hall Of Fame Game

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The University of Minnesota men's hockey team is headed to Las Vegas in 2018 to face one of its biggest rivals.

School officials announced Wednesday that Minnesota will face North Dakota in the 2018 Hall of Fame Game.

The game will be played in Las Vegas on Oct. 27, 2018. Starting the following year, the Gophers and Fighting Hawks will meet for a four-year series.

It guarantees that the two teams will play each other in of the best rivalries in college hockey for seven straight games.

"This is both a great experience for our student-athletes and an opportunity to grow the game in a non-traditional college hockey market," Gophers coach Don Lucia said. "Taking our rivalry with North Dakota to Las Vegas will be great for both programs, our fans and college hockey, and we are certainly looking forward to it."

The University of Minnesota will have a limited number of tickets for the Hall of Fame Game in Las Vegas.

Minnesota and North Dakota will face off this season on Nov. 4-5, with both games at Mariucci Arena.
