Gopher Hockey Announces 2015-16 Non-Conference Schedule

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The University of Minnesota men's hockey program announced its 15-game non-conference schedule for the 2015-16 season on Tuesday.

The schedule will include eight non-conference games against in-state rivals, including the third-annual North Star College Cup. The Gophers will open the non-conference slate with a home game against Vermont at Mariucci Arena on Oct. 10 in the Hall of Fame Game.

Minnesota will face Minnesota-Duluth the following weekend in a home-and-home series. The Gophers will start November with a two-game series at Notre Dame, then face Minnesota State-Mankato in a home-and-home series the following weekend. The game against the Mavericks at Mariucci Arena will be Nov. 13.

The Gophers close out November with a home Friday-Sunday series against St. Cloud State at Mariucci Arena. Minnesota will start the 2016 schedule by hosting UConn, Harvard and Ferris State in the 25th annual Mariucci Classic. The Gophers will face UConn to open the tournament.

Minnesota closes out its non-conference slate, hosting the North Star College Cup Jan. 27-29 at Xcel Energy Center. The Gophers will open against Bemidji State and then face either Mankato or St. Cloud State.
