Gopher Football Gets Primetime Game At Nebraska

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Big Ten Network released its prime time schedule for the 2016 football season on Monday, and the Gophers have at least one game nationally televised.

Minnesota's game at Nebraska, set for Nov. 12, will be nationally televised on Big Ten Network and is set for 6:30 p.m. When the two teams met last year at TCF Bank Stadium, the Cornhuskers beat the Gophers 48-25.

The Gophers have at least one other primetime game in the 2016 season. They'll host Oregon State in their season opener on Thursday, Sept. 1. That game will also air on Big Ten Network. A kickoff time has not been announced.

Minnesota is coming off a disappointing 6-7 season that included a 2-6 record in Big Ten play. Their lone victories were at Purdue and against Illinois. It was a season where Jerry Kill had to retire as head coach due to recurring seizures, and Tracy Claeys was name the permanent coach before their Halloween night loss to Michigan.

The Gophers were 5-7 in the regular season and beat Central Michigan, 21-14, in the Quick Lane Bowl.
