Gopher Basketball Announces 2015 Non-Conference Schedule

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The University of Minnesota men's basketball program announced its non-conference schedule for the 2015-16 season on Monday.

The Gophers will have eight non-conference games at Williams Arena. They will also travel to the Puerto Rico Tip-Off in November and face Big 12 opponent Oklahoma State in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Minnesota is looking for a bounce back season after the Gophers went 18-15 in Richard Pitino's second season as head coach. That mark included a 6-12 record in Big Ten play.

The Gophers will host Minnesota-Crookston and Southwest Minnesota State in a pair of exhibitions in early November. They will host Missouri-Kansas City in the regular season opener on Friday, Nov. 13, at Williams Arena. They also host Louisiana-Monroe Nov. 15 before heading to the Puerto Rico Tip-Off. The Gophers open that tournament against Temple.

Other non-conference home opponents include Nebraska-Omaha, Clemson for the Big Ten/ACC Challenge, South Dakota, South Dakota State, Chicago State and Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

The Gophers open the Big Ten season on Dec. 30 at Ohio State. Their Big Ten home opener is Jan. 2 against Michigan State.
