Good Question: Who Makes Up The Top 1 Percent?

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A new report from Oxfam International finds that by 2016, the top one percent of people will own 50 percent of the world's wealth.

That's up from 44 percent in 2009.  The average wealth of a person in that group is $2.7 million.

So, who is in the top one percent? Good Question.

According to the Minnesota Department of Revenue, the top one percent of Minnesota households will report $510,000 or more on their taxes in 2015.

Top 5 percent: $202,000; Top 10 percent: $146,000; Top 20 percent: $102,000 and the top 30 percent: $77,000

The top 0.1 percent of households who file taxes in the U.S have a wealth of more than $20 million, and the wealth of the top 0.01 percent is over $100 million.
