Golden Valley police chief placed on leave, city officials say

Twin Cities police chief on leave following "complaint," and more headlines

Virgil Green, chief of police in Golden Valley, Minnesota, is on paid administrative leave until further notice, according to a statement released on Saturday by city officials.

Green's leave is "pending review of a complaint," officials say, and no further information was given due to "state law."  

Officials say in Green's absence, assistant chiefs Alice White and Rudy Perez are co-leading the department.

"The City is following its normal steps to ensure leadership continuity in the GVPD and remaining focused on continuing to deliver a high level of public safety services," the city said in a statement.
