Goetz Attends First Gopher Football Practice As Interim Athletic Director

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- One day after the athletic director for the University of Minnesota resigned, the interim director is stepping in.

Beth Goetz was named interim director of athletics after Norwood Teague resigned, admitting to sexually harassing two university employees.

Goetz attended Saturday's Gopher football practice. She was the deputy athletic director and a senior administrator in the department. After practice, Gopher coach Jerry Kill expressed confidence in Goetz's ability to lead the department.

"Beth will do a good job, and I got all the confidence in the world," Kill said. "We're gonna move on. We're not going to miss a beat."

In a statement Friday, Norwood Teague admitted he behaved badly at a university function after having too much to drink. Teague said he will reassess his career and life and seek professional help for alcohol abuse.
