Crews Battle Fire At Glencoe Monster Truck Company

GLENCOE, Minn. (WCCO) - A massive fire broke out at a Glencoe business early Monday evening.

According to the McLeod County Sheriff's office, the fire was first reported at 5:25 p.m. at a truck accessory company called Sidco 4x4 at 2810 9th St. E.

Nine fire departments responded to the scene to battle the blaze, including those of Glencoe and Plato. Several ambulances also responded, but Plato Fire Chief Jay Wood says no one was hurt.

High winds and slick surfaces have made it difficult for crews, who have been working in rotating shifts. The building also contains a lot of combustible materials, making the effort even more dangerous.

"With the weather like this, it's obviously tough to fight a fire like this with the wind," Chief Wood said. "This is a metal building, so it's really hard to get at the seat of the fire. And lots of departments here assisting us due to the weather."

Chief Wood says workers were inside the building when the fire began, but everyone got out safely.

Sidco repairs, rebuilds, and customizes trucks, turning many into monster trucks.

Chief Wood says the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
