Give Back While Working Out At New Mpls. Fitness Store

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – If you like to look good while working out, you'll love a brand new fitness shop that just opened in downtown Minneapolis.

Lole has a great store front on Washington Avenue.

But it's what takes place on the roof, and what they do for charity, that caught our attention.

Lole hasn't even had its grand opening, but the store is already dressing women for the gym and the office.

"It's all about transition and versatility. It's something that you can wear to yoga, but then go to happy hour or to work to play," Meghan Montgomery of Lole said. "Things like our Portland dress that was designed for an urban bike dress that you can throw over your bike shorts and tank and bike to work, but then wear it all day long."

There's also several styles of bags that hold everything you need for the office.

"Great for your urban commuter. The lady on the go. It has your laptop sleeve travel cases," Montgomery said.

Based in Montreal, this is the French Candian brand's first stand-alone store.

"We are a good fitness community, we've kind of got that known for us, and this area specifically in the North Loop is so great for trails. The Cedar Lake trail just opened, the river's right there and our company is all about getting women out and being in this urban lifestyle," Montgomery said.

The company is also about giving back.

And they do it several stories up.

Every Saturday everyone is welcome up on the roof top to enjoy the stunning view while taking in a fitness class.

"We are offering yoga, Pilates, bar, sculpt. So, it's a little bit of everything," Montgomery said.

It's just $5 for a mat and at the end of the summer all proceeds collected will benefit the Harriet Tubman Center.

"We just wanted to give back a little bit. Lole is all about community and bringing women together," Montgomery said.

It's a fun way to help a good cause and burn some calories while soaking in the great outdoors of downtown Minneapolis.

The Summer Rooftop fitness series are offered Saturdays 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Dock Street Flats.

The fun doesn't have to end when summer does.

They're already planning a fall series that will be a night time candlelit yoga class.
