Girl Paralyzed By Stray Bullet Thanks Doctors
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Minneapolis teen is overcoming incredible odds in her recovery after she was nearly killed by a stray bullet.
In November of 2010, Guadalupe Galeno-Hernandez was caught in the cross fire of a shooting. A bullet severed her spinal cord and became lodged near her throat.
Despite her injuries, she refuses to be a victim. Even thought doctors thought she may never talk or move her arms again, she overcame the odds with hard work and determination.
The now 16-year-old and her family met Saturday with her doctors and community members who've supported her through her healing process.
"I used to have a lot of anger, but I really can't do nothing about it," Galeno-Hernandez said. "I just let it pass, I guess."
