Get Ready For Another Bitterly Cold Weekend

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Enjoy the mild January temperatures while they last. Come Friday, Minnesota will again see the mercury drop, and over the weekend there's the possibility of wind chills around 40 below.

WCCO-TV meteorologist Matt Brickman says the overnight high Thursday will be around 22 degrees. From there, temperatures will plummet through the day on Friday, and by the weekend, we'll be lucky to see single digit temperatures.

"You might want to pretend this just isn't going to happen," Brickman said. "It's going to be miserably cold."

The high for Saturday is forecasted to be zero, with an overnight low around 15 below. Wind chills overnight will make it feel like 40 below.

And Sunday doesn't offer any relief, as the high is expected to be around 4 below.

It's a similar story for Monday, which is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. While students will be out of school, they won't likely be out enjoying the single-digit highs.

Relief comes in the middle of next week, when temperatures are expected climb back up into the teens.
