Get Movin' Monday: Working Out With Power Ropes

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – It's Monday and that means it's time to get the week off to the right start. We find different ways every week to exercise and get the blood pumping.

This week, America's Next Fitness Star Stacie Clark and co-owner of Tiger Athletics introduces us to power ropes. So what are they and how do they work?

If you don't know what power ropes are, you'll recognize them from the gym.

"Everyone is doing them these days. They are heavy, you can get them from 10 pounds up to 30-plus," Clark said.

If you've ever worked out with power ropes, you'll know that you're increasing your heart rate, overall core body temperature and working multiple muscles at once. Clark said you often recruit your arms, shoulders, back, core, legs and butt all in just a few exercises.

"The goal is 30 seconds on, 30 seconds of rest. As you increase your fitness level, you increase the work time," Clark said.

Clark said a typical workout with power ropes isn't more than about 10 minutes and will give you a great exercise session to get your day off to the right start. It's also a great way to take out some aggression at the end of a stressful day.

You can buy power ropes online for about $50 to $100.
