Get Movin' Monday: July Deals

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- When you think July, you might not think shopping season -- but you should! Our deals expert Carrie Rocha says this is her favorite month to shop because the deals are some of the best you can find all year! She Gets' Us Movin this Monday with what to buy.

When you think July think clearance time.

"Retailers are switching their inventories from all their summer merchandise to their fall merchandise and so that means clothes everywhere, brick and mortar stores, big and small, online retailers, for kids, women, shoes, all of it on clearance throughout the month of July," Said Rocha.

The other thing that goes on clearance are toys.

"I stock up in July at retailers like Target, Toys R Us, they will be liquidating their toy selection," said Rocha. "I buy toys now and keep them on hand for birthdays parties my kids go to, for Christmas gifts, I just hide them away or if you want to give to Toys for Tots or other charitable organizations, this is the time to get them and I aim for 75 percent off the full price and I usually can get it in July."

It's not only a good time to buy toys for kids, but also for adults.

"Now into August laptops, tablets we often see them at prices that match and revival Black Friday," she said. "If you have any need for electronics begin to think now what are the specifications for what I want so you can watch what goes on sale and you can have the prices that revival Black Friday without the frenzy, but the prices are comparable."

Finally, there's still plenty of summer left, but save a few pennies and shop now for school supplies.

"Believe it or not right after the 4th of July, back to school stuff goes on sale and I have tracked prices on school stuff for years and I have found the best deals are in July so while everyone is in denial, watch the sales and cherry pick when you're at Target one week pick up a few things, when you're at Staples the next week pick up a few things, get most school supply shopping done in July and you will save a bundle," said Rocha.

Speaking of back to school, it's also that time when grads are getting ready to go off to the dorms. So look for sales starting now on things like linens and twin size bed sheets for college students.
