Gas Outages Reported In Montrose, Waverly

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- As temperatures drop, Xcel Energy Center says they are going door-to-door to help more than 100 people relight pilot lights after a gas outage.

The affected customers were in Montrose and Waverly Wednesday morning.

Xcel said they currently have 20 full-time employees helping with lighting pilot lights. Roughly 40 more full-time employees will be on site in a couple of hours to continue efforts throughout the day. The energy company reported that the outage was the result of a construction project.

As of about 8 a.m., crews said they had about 900 of 2,300 customers' gas restored.

They said they expected complete repairs to the system between 4 and 6 p.m. Wednesday evening.
