Garrison Keillor Plans 30-City Tour This Summer
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Garrison Keillor hits the road this summer to celebrate the 41st anniversary of his radio variety show "A Prairie Home Companion."
The humorist and best-selling author plans to visit 30 cities across the U.S. in just over a month.
Keillor's "The America the Beautiful Tour" features singer Sarah Jarosz, pianist Richard Dworsky & The Radio Rhubarb Band, and sound-effects man Fred Newman.
The shows run 2½ hours and will include such popular pieces as "Guy Noir, Private Eye" and "News From Lake Wobegon."
Keillor kicks off the tour July 26 in Bayfield, Wisconsin, and wraps it up Aug. 30 in Palmer, Alaska.
Keillor hosted the first broadcast of "Prairie Home" on July 6, 1974. About 4 million people now listen to the show on more than 600 public radio stations each week.
