'Funny River Five' Pups Arrive At Minnesota Zoo Today
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Five gray wolf orphaned pups arrive at their new home at the Minnesota Zoo Tuesday afternoon.
The pups were rescued from a wildfire in Alaska in May. They were abandoned and had been hurt by porcupines.
The two females and three males are now nine weeks old and doing much better, according to the zoo.
Once on display in Apple Valley, the "Funny River Five," as they are known, will have free reign in the wolf enclosure.
Their story has been followed across the country.
This is actually a good time for them to travel. They're small enough that they can fit into two kennels, so no pup has to be alone during the trip. Caretakers say the companionship will help ease their transition to their new life in Minnesota.
