Funeral To Be Held Monday For Teen Who Died Of Suspected Brain Infection

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A funeral will be held Monday for the teenager who died from a rare infection he likely got while swimming last week.

Hunter Boutain, 14, may have developed the rare form of meningitis after being exposed to a deadly amoeba while swimming in Lake Minnewaska in Pope County Tuesday. He died Thursday.

Hunter was involved in orchestra and the jazz band while at Discovery Middle School in Alexandria.

His funeral is Monday morning at 11 a.m. at the Holiday Inn in Alexandria.

The Minnesota Department of Health says this is the third known case of this brain infection in Minnesota.
