Funeral For J.P. Parise Is Friday In Edina

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Funeral arrangements have been finalized for an icon in the Minnesota hockey world.

J.P. Parise, a former standout for the Minnesota North Stars and the father of current Wild star Zach Parise, died on Wednesday after a battle with lung cancer. He was 73 years old.

His family says he'll be remembered for his career on the ice and the man he was off of it. A memorial service will be held Friday afternoon to honor his life at the Colonial Church of Edina.

The Parise family is asking memorials be sent to "Defending The Blue Line," a group that helps military families play hockey.
