Freshman Student Missing From North Dakota State

FARGO, N.D. (WCCO/AP) — Fargo police are expanding the search for a North Dakota State University freshman.

Tom Bearson, 18, of Sartell, Minn., hasn't been seen since Saturday. He lives in a residence hall on campus.

On Monday, police expanded the search to the neighborhood where he was seen leaving a party around 3 a.m. Saturday.

Bearson tweeted he was lost and needed a ride.

NDSU says his cell phone appears to not be working anymore.

Fargo police, using canines, are searching the neighborhoods around campus. Firefighters will also search the Red River for any signs of the nursing student.

The St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sartell is holding a community prayer service for Bearson at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

NDSU Vice President for Student Affairs Tim Alvarez says the school is asking people to keep an eye out for Bearson.

Anyone with information is asked to call NDSU police at 701-231-8998 or text a tip to 701-526-6006.
