Free Symposium Held To Help Vets Do Better Business

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Minnesota veterans are learning about owning and running their own businesses.

The Association of the United States Army and U.S. Bank got together Wednesday to present a free symposium for veterans.

They targeted veterans who are already business owners and want to move to the next level, as well as those starting from scratch.

Craig Veurink, U.S. Bank's small business manager, believes veterans have the skills and savvy to run and own businesses.

"The characteristics of these veteran business owners? They're resilient, they're innovative, they're persistent -- all the characteristics that really make a great small-business owner, and U.S. Bank wants to be a part of that, support it," Veurink said.

Organizers hope to teach veterans everything from marketing, basic accounting and how to create a business plan.

They believe veterans can create more job opportunities for other veterans.
