Former State Fire Department Treasurer Charged With Swindling

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A former treasurer of the Minnesota State Fire Department Association is accused of taking money from the department over a span of four years, according to charges filed by the Ramsey County Attorney's Office.

Anthony William Bronk has been charged with five counts of theft by swindle and one count of offering forged checks in connection with the case. The incidents happened over a four-year span from 2010 to 2014.

According to the charges, Bronk allegedly took about $188,000 from the MSFDA over the four-year period. The money included $135,000 in unauthorized expenditures on the association's credit card and $53,000 in forged checks.

Bronk is also formerly a member of the Hugo city council. The case remains under investigation. His first court appearance has been moved to Feb. 18.
