Former Radio Host Jeff Dubay Arrested Again

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Former radio host Jeff Dubay is in trouble with the law again after an arrest for possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia on Wednesday in Cottage Grove.

Dubay, 47, has been charged with fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance in connection with the incident.

Authorities said Dubay was taken into custody at about 4:52 p.m. Wednesday after a traffic stop and transported to the Washington County Jail. He was arrested at the intersection of 80th Street and Ideal Avenue.

According to a complaint, Cottage Grove Police spotted a vehicle traveling westbound on 80th Street at about 4:40 p.m. that was traveling 50 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone. The driver, identified as Dubay, had a suspended driver's license and a warrant out of Wright County.

The complaint states in a search of Dubay, officers found two hypodermic needles in his back pants pocket and in his right front pants pocket they found a folded piece of paper with a small amount of crystal-type substance inside. It was determined to be methamphetamine.

According to the complaint, officers searched the vehicle and found 31 used syringes inside a black computer bag. One of the syringes had a liquid substance inside that was believed to be a controlled substance. Dubay has a previous conviction for fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance back in 2009.

Dubay was one of the most popular personalities in the Twin Cities radio market, having been part of the "PA and Dubay" show on KFAN for 10 years. In 2008, he was arrested for having crack-cocaine and after failing to stay clean, was eventually fired from the station.

He appeared on WCCO Radio with Chad Hartman back on July 11, 2012, to talk about the initial arrest and his recovery. Dubay said in that segment he had been clean since March of 2011.

If convicted, Dubay faces up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
