Fmr. Teacher Pleads Guilty To Taking Compromising Photos Of Students

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A former teacher who worked with hearing impaired students in the north metro pleaded guilty last week to taking compromising photos of students in his classroom.

Anoka County court officials say 48-year-old David Harrell, of Chaska, pleaded guilty last Tuesday to fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct, interfering with a child's privacy and possessing child pornography.

Harrell was accused of misconduct earlier this year after it was reported to officials in the St. Francis School District that Harrell was seen with a young student sitting on his lap.

During a subsequent investigation, thousands of images of children were found on Harrell's computer. They showed children in his classroom in compromising positions.

Harrell was a contracted teacher for the St. Francis School District and Spring Lake Park Schools.

He is slated to be sentenced on Dec. 15.
